“I was terrified to talk about my miscarriage, even with close friends. The Miscarriage Doula offered a space where I didn’t have to explain myself or minimize my pain. For the first time, my experience felt fully honored.”

“I came in feeling broken and lost. I left with clarity, grounding, and a sense that my grief made sense. The Miscarriage Doula didn’t try to fix me—she walked with me, and that made all the difference.”

Meet Your Doula
Arden Cartrette is the founder of The Miscarriage Doula, an author, and a mom -- both of living children and babies lost to miscarriage.

She's passionate about reproductive healthcare and never imagined that she would be a bereavement doula. As a single mom to two boys, she sets out to support everyone and help women who have experienced loss process that loss in real time so they don't feel the immense weight of grief forever.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is a
A miscarriage doula is a trained, non-medical support professional who provides emotional, informational, and practical support before, during, and after pregnancy loss. They walk alongside individuals and families through miscarriage and other forms of pregnancy loss, offering education, validation, advocacy, and grief support without judgment or timelines.
  • What are support groups like?
Support groups meet virtually and are small, intimate, and intentionally facilitated. Each week includes a meaningful topic, guided reflection, and space for sharing or listening. You’ll also have access to handouts, prompts, and a private group chat for continued connection.
  • Why does this cost money?
Over the five years of The Miscarriage Doula, we’ve learned a lot about what helps our community feel safest and most supported. When events are free, we lose the ability to thoughtfully shape the group and protect the kind of space we work hard to create. We also keep our groups intentionally small, and charging helps ensure that spots are held by people who are able to attend and engage, so we can offer the level of care and connection you deserve.

Fees for our offerings also directly support our work and our family. We give generously of our time whenever we can, but we aren’t able to offer everything for free. Thank you for understanding and for valuing the care behind this work.

If someone is unable to afford our support groups, we do offer financial assistance thanks to some wonderful donors. Reach out to Arden if you need this assistance.
